Mitchell C. Carson, President, CEO and Board Member of Longmont United Hospital, brings over 30 years of healthcare leadership experience to the Northern Colorado area. Before relocating to Longmont, Mitch served as President and Board Member of Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie, Indiana. This 400-bed flagship hospital of the Cardinal Health System is a tertiary care regional referral health center serving east central Indiana as well as western Ohio. Ball Memorial Hospital received designation as one of America's Top 100 National and Regional Hospitals.

Mitch has also served in Executive positions at LaPorte Hospital, a 230-bed community owned hospital in LaPorte, Indiana, and University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, a 700-bed university-owned teaching hospital in Iowa City, Iowa. At the age of 21, Mitch started his career as the Administrator and Chief Executive Officer of Murray County Memorial Hospital, a 50-bed, county-owned hospital in Slayton, Minnesota. Mitch is Board Certified in Healthcare Management by the American College of Healthcare Executives.

Mitch has been President and CEO of Longmont United Hospital since September 2001. Shortly after relocating to Colorado, Mitch made an immediate impact in the Longmont and surrounding communities. He is an advocate of corporate stewardship benefiting the quality of life in the communities served by Longmont United Hospital. As a board member of the Longmont Area Economic Council and the Longmont Area Chamber of Commerce, Mitch demonstrates a leadership role in the efforts of recruiting and enhancing corporations and businesses, supplying jobs and services in the area. Mitch is also an active board member of the Educational Foundation for the St. Vrain Valley and serves on the Advisory Committee for the Graduate Program in Health Care Administration at the University of Colorado.

Mitch received a Bachelors of Arts with cum laude recognition in Business Administration/Hospital Administration at Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota. Soon thereafter, Mitch received a Masters of Arts in Hospital and Health Administration at the University of Iowa in Iowa City, where he met his future wife, Pat. He completed two residencies in hospital administration as required to be awarded his degrees. Mitch is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executive.

A native of Fargo, North Dakota, Mitch, Pat and their two sons, Ryan and Matthew, reside in Longmont and are very active in volunteering in the community as well participants in local sport programs.
