Cancer recovery is an ongoing journey to healing physically and emotionally. Our patient navigator will help you create a recovery plan. Unfortunately, there can be many side effects from cancer or its treatment, such as pain, nausea, fatigue and depression. Please do not suffer needlessly. Let your doctor know if you are experiencing any of these side effects. Many options available can prevent, reduce or eliminate side effects. The most frequent therapies for cancer used at Longmont United Hospital are rehabilitation, lymphedema and integrated. We will do everything we can to help you be comfortable and reach your goal of cancer recovery.
Rehabilitation Therapies
Physical medicine rehabilitation provides outpatient cancer rehabilitation services to those under current medical treatments, remission and survivorship.
Lymphedema Therapy
Lymphedema, or swelling, may be caused by surgical removal, injury to, or radiation therapy of lymph nodes. Lymphedema therapy helps decrease the incidence and severity of swelling. Patient education and self-care are cornerstones of lymphedema therapy along with compression bandaging, exercise and manual lymphatic drainage.
Integrated Therapies
The therapists at Health Center of Integrated Therapies will help patients find relief from their treatments. All of the therapists have the required training, as well as experience, for treating patients with these symptoms. Typically, we recommend one or more of the following evidence based therapies: Acupuncture, Healthy Steps™ Classes, Manual Lymphatic Drainage, Nutrition Therapy Consultations, and Massage Therapy.
