Health Center of Integrated Therapies ... a complementary approach to your health care
History of the Health Center of Integrated Therapies
In 1996, Longmont United Hospital opened the Health Center of Integrated Therapies to provide Complementary Medicine to patients in the hospital and the people of our community. Earlier in 1991, a group of community members initiated a fundraising campaign to send a Longmont United Hospital representative, Michelle Bowman, to China as an American Society on Aging delegate. Michelle returned with stories and slideshows of acupuncture, Tai Chi, massage therapy, food and plant medicine used to prevent and treat pain, illnesses and disease. Inspired by this use of Complementary Medicine, community members encouraged a more holistic approach to health for our community.
Today, Health Center of Integrated Therapies resides at the Longmont Medical Campus amongst the physicians and other health care practitioners who also care for the people of our community. With seven private treatment rooms and unique nature themes, we provide you with a comfortable healing environment. Each treatment room offers hydraulic-lift tables for your ease with moving on and off the table and temperature-controlled warmers for your comfort. Treatment tables with handicap, wheelchair transfer height are available upon request. We use paraben-free treatment products for our patients’ well being. You may also enjoy the health lending library of books, videos and audio tapes before or after your appointment.
