Equipped with the latest technologies and staffed by highly trained physicians and compassionate employees, Longmont United Hospital offers a comprehensive menu of sophisticated services and programs.

In 1999 Longmont United Hospital became affiliated with Planetree, a partnership of hospitals, which adopted a care model dedicated to personalizing, humanizing and demystifying the healthcare experience for patients and their families.

Planetree was developed by Angela Theriot, a former patient, who committed to improve healthcare by reintegrating the technological capabilities of the modern hospital with the spiritual dimension that Hippocrates had considered so important. Her vision was to create a healing setting in which values such as compassion, comfort, esthetic beauty, dignity, shared knowledge and the freedom of informed choice enjoyed the same standing as technology. The program name, Planetree, was derived from the tree under which Hippocrates was believed to have taught his students.

At Longmont United Hospital, we have integrated our modern technologies with the Planetree Care Model. Our care is patient-centered rather than provider-focused, and we are committed to improving medical care from the patient's perspective. Our philosophy empowers patients and families through information and education, and encourages "healing partnerships" with our physicians and staff. In addition, our philosophy recognizes the importance of architectural and interior design that is home-like, barrier free, support patient dignity and encourage family participation in care.
