Mission and Vision of PrestigePLUS

The mission of PrestigePLUS is to improve the health and well-being of older adults. Our vision is actively promoting community in which we all age well through innovative programming and services and self-care strategies.

History of PrestigePLUS

Prestige's beginnings are rooted in the wisdom of the seniors of the communities we serve. In 1991, Longmont United Hospital opened The Prestige Club to expand existing services for older adults and better serve the needs of our community’s senior population. The Prestige Club's Advisory Board proposed that the Club's manager, Michelle Bowman, travel to China as an American Society on Aging delegate to meet with the Chinese Commission on Aging in 1994. Michelle returned with stories and slideshows of acupuncture, Tai Chi, massage therapy, food and plant medicine, which became the seniors' inspiration for a more holistic approach to health and well-being. Later that year, The Prestige Club hired the first massage therapist and introduced a Tai Chi class. In 1996, as interest in Integrative Medicine grew, the Health Center of Integrated Therapies was created, separate from The Prestige Club. In the same year, Prestige absorbed the northern Boulder County Health Department’s 55+ Senior Wellness program, and the name was changed to PrestigePLUS to reflect the merger.

Partnering with Longmont’s Senior Services Division

Our partnership with City of Longmont’s Senior Services Division enables us to reach beyond our membership to provide wellness activities and educational programs, clinics, classes, consulting, counseling and screenings to the larger community. This partnership has opened new doors and allowed us to reach more deeply and broadly into the community. We co-create programs, share knowledge and skills and support each other in our common mission to enhance the well-being of older adults.
