Post Heart Surgery Rehabilitation
The rehabilitation program at our Heart Care Center begins right after surgery. Your doctor and a physical therapist will meet with you and your cardiology nurse to develop the first phase of your rehabilitation plan. While you are in the hospital, you can expect a daily meeting with the physical therapist until you go home.
After you leave the hospital, the next step is the follow-up visit with your physician. Your physician will recommend a rehabilitation program that fits your needs. Many of our patients continue on to the Cardiac Rehabilitation Phase II Program.
Cardiac Rehab Phase II Program
The Cardiac Rehab II Program is designed to assist individuals who have just had a cardiac event (such as heart attack, bypass surgery, angioplasty) and have a high risk factor (such as angina, high cholesterol or high blood pressure) to work toward cardiovascular fitness. Medical personnel and exercise specialists provide a safe atmosphere while supervising the program. There are also many educational resources and opportunities to ask questions about medications, diet and the disease process. Perhaps the most beneficial aspect is the support that develops among the participants.
